Abortion Assistance Funds
Assistance with paying for an abortion is available
through five organizations. Women without insurance
coverage or available funds are directed to call the
Hersey Abortion Assistance Fund sponsored by Pro-Choice
Resources. Abortion assistance calls are answered Wednesday
nights from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at 612-825-8270. The Hersey
phone line is very busy, and it might take several attempts
to get through.
Two other funds are available specifically for Wisconsin
women. The Option Fund is for residents of west central
and northwestern Wisconsin. Leave a message on their
voicemail at 715-838-9991. Women living in central and
northern Wisconsin may also call the Freedom Fund at
715-384-3360 to leave a voicemail message.
MHCW staff can contact two other sources of funding
on behalf of patients unable to access funds through
these other sources. These requests must be initiated
by clinic staff.
Sliding Fee Scale for other Services
Low to moderate income women may qualify for a sliding
fee scale for birth control methods, STI testing and
annual exams. To qualify you must be uninsured or have
insurance that does not cover family planning services.
Please ask for information about the sliding fee scale
program when you schedule your appointment.
